What’s a copy of Forgotten Worlds worth?

SEGA did well for themselves after the launch of the SEGA Genesis by licensing several Capcom games including Ghouls ‘N’ Ghosts, Strider, and this game Forgotten Worlds!

We can’t say we know much about Forgotten Worlds except that it looks like a spiritual sequel to Side Arms.  That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but to that end we haven’t heard too many great things about Forgotten Worlds.  But we don’t review games so much as we give you pricing information!

So what’s a copy of Forgotten Worlds for SEGA Genesis worth?  For loose copies expect to pay about $6; with box $12, and complete with manual about $18.

What’s a copy of Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle worth?

Back in the day if you were the first kid on your block to own a SEGA Genesis you would have been limited in your choices for games to buy.

Unless you already familiar with the Alex Kidd series it would have been easy to overlook this title which looks very child focused – almost like an edutainment game.

We won’t share our opinion of the game itself, as there are plenty of review sites and YouTube videos that eviscerate the game.  But if you’re interested in collecting the game Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle is worth about $12.

What’s a copy of Space Harrier II worth?

space harrier ii sega genesisWhat’s a copy of Space Harrier II for SEGA Genesis worth?

For as amazing as Space Harrier II is SEGA sure chose lousy box art for the game.  As an early release for the SEGA Genesis Space Harrier II showed off more of the hardware’s capabilities including large fast moving sprites.

The original Space Harrier struggled on the SEGA Master system and this version was a huge step closer to the arcade experience.  It’s not as common as some of the other launch titles like Altered Beast so the game might be more difficult to find, but its still relatively expensiveness.  Copies of Space Harrier II can be found for as low as $8.

What’s a copy of Altered Beast worth?

altered beast sega genesis boxWhat’s a copy of Altered Beast worth for SEGA Genesis?

Altered Beast was not the perfect pack-in for the SEGA Genesis.  Compared to Nintendo’s squeaky clean image of Mario, the cover of Altered Beast looks like Satan!

SEGA made a handful of missteps with the launch of the SEGA Genesis and while Altered Beast wasn’t the best choice to push consoles it’s a reasonable port of the arcade game and demonstrated what the SEGA Genesis was capable of.

Either way Altered Beast is still a common game and can be found very easily.  You can find copies for as low as $4, but $6 is about average.

What’s a copy of Sonic Spinball worth?

Hey we haven’t stopped Sonic week here at the Video Game Price Guides, and today we are looking at Sonic Spinball for SEGA Genesis of course.

Not a traditional Sonic he Hedgehog game, Sonic Spinball is.. well.. a pinball game.  By many standards its not that great of a pinball game, but the change in direction and for SEGA to try something new was definitely refreshing!  Not only that Nintendo eventually released both Super Mario and Kirby themed pinball games as well (although their execution was much better.)

Anyways, so what’s a copy of Sonic Spinball worth?  Well sadly the game is so common and has been frequently re-released on a variety of platforms, thus the game is only worth $4.  That is not to suggest you shouldn’t pick up a copy, it simply means you won’t have to invest much to get one!

Sonic week continues here at Video Game Price Guides.  We’ve already priced the original Sonic the Hedgehog, and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, so naturally it’s time to look at Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

We don’t have much to say about Sonic the Hedgehog 3 except that it was in development for almost 2 years.  The CGI rendered title screen looks like it’s channeling the visual effects of Donkey Kong Country, but don’t be fooled, as the in-game action looks similar to the original Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic 2.

Anyways, even though the game was a late released for the SEGA Genesis, it was still fairly common and copies can be picked up for as low as $5.

What’s a copy of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 worth?

This is the question we’re asking today on Sonic the Hedgehog week here at Video Game Price guides.  Yesterday we covered the original Sonic the Hedgehog so it makes sense that we talk about Sonic the Hedgehog 2 today!

I was a sophomore in high school when Sonic the Hedgehog 2 came out and it was such a big deal I remember a local radio station did a call in contest to win a free copy.  Obviously the highlight of the game was the inclusion of Tales the flying fox, and the split screen multiplayer.

While fox would never hold the esteem that Luigi holds to Super Mario Bros. Tales has always been a refreshing character through out the game’s series.

So what’s a copy of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 worth?  $4.  Like the original Sonic the Hedgehog the game was so popular that it was incredibly common – it seemed like everyone owned a copy, and thus the game isn’t worth that much today.  Stay tuned as we have more Sonic the Hedgehog games that we’re covering this week!

What’s a copy for Sonic the Hedgehog worth?

That’s the question we’re asking for kicking off Sonic the Hedgehog week here at Video Game Price Guides.

Sonic is synonymous with SEGA, but that wasn’t always the case.  As the direct competition to Super Mario, Sonic had a heavy load to bare, and he did a pretty good job because SEGA has cranked out Sonic titles almost non-stop.  With SEGA’s future in question no one knows for certain what the game manufacturer will do but we’re confident Sonic won’t be going away any time soon.

So what’s a copy of the original Sonic the Hedgehog worth?  Well, since the game was so popular, and served as the pack in title for many years the game is incredibly common and thus is only worth $4!

We’re going to feature more Sonic titles this week so come back often!

What is Streets of Rage worth?

streets of rage sega genesis

Streets of Rage is a 1991 release for SEGA Genesis by SEGA. Here is the run down:

Considered by some to be Sega’s answer to Capcom’s Final Fight, Streets of Rage is one of the more popular titles SEGA has ever created spawning multiple sequels.

Pick from one of three ex cops including a white dude, a black dude, or a woman and take to the mean streets kicking the crap out of everyone. The game has amazing graphics with plenty of minor details that other beat ’em up’s of the same era simply glossed over. The music is amazing.

For being such a great game you’d think Streets of Rage would be worth more than $5 but its very common and available on other platforms and compilations.

Streets of Rage Rating: 8/10

What is Double Dragon for SEGA Genesis worth?

double dragon sega genesis box

Double Dragon is a 1992 release for SEGA Genesis by Accolade. It is based on the 1987 arcade hit. Here is the run down:

Visually this version looks great. The sprites appear to almost be pulled straight from the arcade. The only notable exception is that the backgrounds tend to have a lot of red tint, where as the arcade original has more brown.

The level design is mostly the same and follows the arcade version very closely. Enemies appear where they are supposed to, and the terrain functions the same – fall in a pit you die, get hit by dynamite and you’re hurt, slide off a conveyor belt and you’re dead, etc.

All of the enemies from the arcade version are in this one, and they act like they should. Abobo will toss you in the air if you’re too close.

The sound effects are not that great. I don’t think its a limitation of the Genesis hardware in this instance, I think it was just sloppily put together.

Last but not least is that the game moves fast – too fast at times. Unlike the arcade version that slows to a crawl when more than two enemies appear on the screen this version is always fast and fluid. As a result a 3 on 1 ass kicking will finish you off pretty fast, and sometimes you’ll find yourself running away from a group of bad guys first rather than just fighting them.

All in all Double Dragon isn’t necessarily a bad game, its just not arcade perfect despite having great graphics. At the time of this stream we placed the value of Double Dragon at $20, however this game has fluctuated many times over the year and hitting $35 or even $40 isn’t uncommon.

Double Dragon Rating: 6/10
